Renew Your Mind
Position your words to be in harmony with your beliefs, thoughts, and intent.
Synchronize your words, thoughts, intent, and feelings with Truth, rather than current beliefs, facts, feelings, and emotional states. Just by setting your intention to pay attention you have already set the stage for change. Allow the power of the Creator as well as your spoken and written words to work in you a creative mindset that detoxifies your brain.
Notice any life-limiting thoughts that enter your mind and say out loud, I choose life-giving thoughts right now. When a limiting thought comes into your mind, you must capture it right away because there is a short window of opportunity within which to discard it if it is not productive or keep it if it is helpful.
What you focus on you empower. What you pay attention to will grow. Therefore, focus on the outcome you would love to see rather than your immediate circumstances that cause your thoughts to become contractive instead of expansive. When you focus on the solution your brain goes to working on possibilities.
When we become problem-focused as opposed to being solution-oriented, we can create a deficit and begin to spiral downward in our thinking. Ultimately, we get stuck and find ourselves in a state of lack, seeing no resources and no way out.
This life-limiting thought process and perception of our circumstances can cause us to spiral in directions that do not serve our desired outcomes.
In 2005, the National Science Foundation published an article regarding research about human thoughts per day. The average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day (80,000 thoughts a day. That’s an average of 2500 – 3,300 thoughts per hour.) Of those, 80% are negative and 95% are exactly the same repetitive thoughts as the day before. These thoughts are the ones that are being reinforced and solidified. According to neuroscientist, Dr. Caroline Leaf in her blog, “Controlling Your Toxic Thoughts”, 75% to 95% of illnesses today are a direct result of our thought life. Most of our thoughts are in the non-conscious part of our brains. When we pay attention to them, they move into the subconscious and as we continue to capture them whenever they pop up, they eventually move into the conscious part of the mind where they can be changed.
By deciding whether to discard a thought because it is not true, not serving your best outcomes at the moment, or hindering them, you are then able to move into changing any words that have flowed from those thoughts.
A thought of being ‘no good’ or ‘not loved’ or being ‘dumb’ may lead to language such as I’m always bad. I never do anything right. I’ll never get it right. I’ll never get better. I’m dumb. I can’t____, fill in the blank. All these statements plus a host of others you could think of, indicate a lack or deficiency of some kind.
In the RYMMz 63 Day Transformation Experience, the aim is to capture the thoughts around that particular area of your life you choose to work on and “Run them through the RYMMz”.
Once you are able to catch your thoughts before they disappear you can assess whether they should be discarded or kept and meditated on. For example, if you chose to work on anxiety, you would set your intention to take every anxious thought captive. You would then make an effort to be aware of the situations that generally cause anxiety and pay close attention to your thinking. Even before this, you should “Run it through the RYMMz”. As you run through the MOVE-Meant™ Sequence as a part of your daily routine, focus on the Truth about anxiety and the Truth about how to overcome it.
Do not be anxious about anything but pray about everything. Whatever you would be anxious and worried about, ask Creator about it and petition, with thanksgiving make your requests known to God [The Creator] and the peace of God [Creator] that transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus [The Creator].
Once you have noticed a life-limiting thought or thought pattern and it is in full view and exposed to the rest of your being, identify the words that are produced by that thought. That particular thought may also be accompanied by a feeling that corresponds with it.
Anything less than truth or any mixture of truth and untruth in our words becomes tainted, or stained speech. When we say things about ourselves that are not in agreement with what Creator says about us we are using tainted or stained speech to refer to ourselves, as it may be simply untrue or truth mixed with untruths.
All thoughts that are founded on truth should be meditated on and allowed to grow and flourish. Think on these kinds of thoughts as often as possible. Practicing to take every thought captive when you do not have a challenging situation is extremely helpful for when problems arise
For example, if someone were to say, “Nobody loves me.” That would be untrue, because the Creator Himself is love and He loves everyone, including you.
Even though you may ‘feel’ as if nobody loves you, to say the words “Nobody loves me” is not the truth. It may feel like reality with all the pain and hurt that comes with that but it is only your perception of reality as far as your soul (mind, will, emotions and intellect are concerned).
Change those words into words that are life-giving to your 3 Being (spirit, soul and soma). Generally, that would be words that are in opposition to those life constricting words. These are usually words that are loving, kind and expansive.
Bring your soul (mind, will, emotions, intellect) into harmony with your spirit by letting go of all thoughts that interfere with you being 100% present in the love-zone or the ‘Love-Light’ in the RYMMz vernacular.
Tools to help restructure your brain by creating new mindsets through declaring and decreeing truth over yourself can come in the form of: Reading the Bible, listening to lines from a song or poem speaking Truth, or reading your favourite quote out loud with intention or whatever boosts you to the next level.
Brain Science and Neuroplasticity
Brain science tells us that our brains are neuroplastic. Every thought we have changes the structure of our brain. Neuroplasticity is (the ability of the brain to change in response to thinking) can operate for you as well as against you because whatever you think about the most will grow. That means we are not stuck with what we have become if we happen to have created less than ideal patterns of thinking and being. We can choose something different for ourselves and with intention create new neural pathways in our brain and ultimately become our best selves.
Below is information from Dr. Caroline Leaf on Brain Science and Neuroplasticity
- Toxic thinking wears down the brain
- Our brain does not control us we control our brain
- Brain activity is the processing activity we do unconsciously, on the very real and active non- conscious level.
- The person you have become because of toxic thinking is not the real you
- During the daytime, your thinking is in the building process and during nighttime, your thinking is a sorting process
- Conscious direct thinking wires out toxic patterns of thinking and replaces them with healthy thoughts

- Our brain generates more energy (electrical impulses) in one day than all the cell phones on the planet.
- We have all the power we need to make change. Your thoughts can change things – through energy.
- Thinking about something towards someone can cause real energy to go out to that individual.
- Our brain has thousands of new neurons created everyday.
- Cognitive dissonance is when you have a disconnect between what is being said and what is really believed and felt deep down.
- The science of Epigenetics is the fact that your thoughts and choices impact your physical brain and body, your mental health, and your mental health, and your spiritual development.
Mindsets are important to pay attention to 90- 99% of who we are is made up of our thoughts and mindsets. This is how you see and interact with the world, they set your expectation. Your brain and body are always responding to your mindsets. They are either working for you or against you. You have the power to control your mind to set mindsets.
Our thoughts can improve our peace, health, vision, fitness, strength and much more. Thoughts are a source of power and where your thoughts go, your life follows. We have the power to choose to adopt a mindset that frees us or limits us.
Stress can become toxic can depending on how you think about it and negative mindsets can be transformed as we are wired with optimism bias.
Dr. Caroline Leaf’s Switch on your Brain
According to Dr. Leaf, it takes 21 days to break down toxic thoughts when they are intentionally being worked on. It takes another 21 days to create new neural pathways when new thoughts are being generated. An additional 21 days is needed to solidify and entrench those new ways of thinking. In some cases, thoughts solidified for many years, depending on how embedded they are, may take up to 42 days more for you to rid yourself of those toxic thought processes. That is not a lot of time considering many of our thought patterns have been cultivated over much of our lives which in some cases could be a half a century in the making.
Below are her 5 Step Learning Process for Switching on your Brain
- Gather- becoming aware of all signals coming into your mind
- Focused Reflection- deep intellectual disciplined thinking
- Write- the actual process consolidates the memory and adds clarity
- Revisit – where are you?/look at how to make change happen
- Active Reach-practice using new healthy thoughts
Take Brain Breaks
- Practicing doing nothing – Rest activities
- Disconnect from technology
- Connect to other Human Beings
- Set boundaries- time limits for activities
- Stop Milkshake Multi-tasking
True transformation can only be achieved when you renew your mind. In order to renew your mind, you must be able to: Re-verse (re-write) the pattern and reframe your situation and see it from a different perspective.
Now reframing your circumstances and changing them becomes possible. Every time you think about a particular thing it changes. Every thought you have changes the structure of your brain, for better or worse. Why not take advantage of this neuroplasticity? Think about things that are based in love; things that are true, right, noble, praiseworthy; thoughts that are Life-sustaining. It will change the structure of your brain for the better
